TRIOMF Fertilizer stands tall as a most readily recognised name in the fertilizer industry. It is influential in that it has a wide and steadfast footprint on the African continent. TRIOMF Fertilizer has a proud brand heritage and is authentically South African, a brand which enjoys an international presence in the agricultural sector and when it comes to local soil, TRIOMF constantly strives to maintain its household name status. Trusted by generations of farmers, TRIOMF Fertilizer continues to be the preferred choice for top-performance fertilizers. This major operation of the group is headquartered in Potchefstroom with a long established history of sourcing, importing and manufacturing the very best in fertilizer products. The founding members were visionary in scope; designing and building the largest fertilizer manufacturing and distribution facility in Southern Africa. This innovative and forward thinking approach was further developed by experts to constantly maintain cutting edge technology with the wisdom to approach and improve farming methods including the maintenance of soil with highly specialised nutrients.

True to the innovative nature of the company, undaunted and now venturing into a new direction as a more streamlined approach was introduced, experts endeavoured to develop a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant and this, paired with pioneering technology and inventive acquisitions of property and raw materials, resulted in an enterprise which is highly specialised, with an advanced techno-forward structure of machinery. At these 180 000 m² premises one can find the first of its kind cluster fertilizer manufacturing plant in South Africa. This cluster plant incorporating the production of both liquid and granular fertilizers, not only blends but also coats and manufactures a variety of fertilizer products. Standard fertilizers are furthermore extended to specialised soil enriching formulas and plant growth speciality products. Unique and progressive technology makes it possible to realise TRIOMF's objective to marry biology with chemistry in eco-friendly product development and offerings.

Furthermore, TRIOMF Fertilizer now manufactures and distributes nationally from strategically placed facilities in South Africa such as: Potchefstroom NW, Durban KZN, Ermelo MP and Balfour MP through which TRIOMF Fertilizer products can easily be obtained and used efficiently and effectively. In the near future, producers can look forward to obtain TRIOMF Fertilizer products also from Richards Bay KZN, Douglas NC and Atlantis (Cape Town) WC.

Moving over to the global markets, TRIOMF Fertilizer recently entered the African agricultural industry with many extensive untapped international markets yet to be explored. Prospects are endless for manufacture, sales and distribution initiatives, considering the progress made to date in African countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo which boasts its own super production facility and Swaziland soon to start with ground breaking of its fertilizer plant. TRIOMF has already penetrated markets around its home base with well established distribution networks already existing in Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and soon Angola, extending to the Congo.

TRIOMF Fertilizer is always proving to be the farmer's prime choice fertilizer brand and certainly the preferred supplier of value-added agricultural services and expertise. TRIOMF Fertilizer product sales in South Africa are managed through an extensive distribution network by its force of field agents and qualified agronomists. It is here where a close collaboration between agents and agronomists from the TRIOMF Agri Xcellence Team takes place to bring the ultimate solution product wise, and advice to the food producer. Apart from selling directly to wholesalers, retailers and producers, TRIOMF Fertilizer distributes its products through a national network of agricultural co-ops such as Obaro, Overberg, Senwes, OVK, BKB and Suidwes to name but a few. To aid in the support and development of subsistence farmers on the African continent, TRIOMF has developed an agricultural package where a small scale farmer can acquire an all-in-one bucket containing everything needed to cultivate a patch of land inclusive of: seed, fertilizer, pesticide, herbicide and instruction manuals. These buckets are currently distributed in various countries through wholesalers, retailers and Government initiatives.

TRIOMF is proud of its current well established relationships with suppliers and distributors in Asia, Europe and the middle East, and is looking forward to massive future collaborations and supply or distribution agreements.

TRIOMF Fertilizer, a trusted and well established fertilizer brand, continues its famous success as a manufacturer of top quality, high performance fertilizer products as a proud member of FERTASA: the Fertilizer Association of Southern Africa.

TRIOMF AGRI XCELLENCE (Pty) Ltd
5-line

TRIOMF Agri Xcellence is a team of professionals for whom the principles of sustainability and profitability are of utmost importance.

2-line

TRIOMF Agri Xcellence is a team of professionals for whom the principles of sustainability and profitability are of utmost importance. The TRIOMF Agri Xcellence outfit includes soil surveyors, soil scientists and agronomists who are all qualified at tertiary level from various top-notch colleges and universities across South Africa. They are all affiliated to a variety of professional organisations including the renowned South African Council for Professionals in Natural Sciences (SACNASP).

As the biggest and most experienced team of its kind in Africa, they have raised the bar as agri-scientists and continue to maintain a standard of excellence. One needs to look no further than their track record which speaks for itself and boasts of numerous successfully completed projects in several countries spread throughout the continent such as:

Zambia
Malawi
Swaziland
Zimbabwe
Cameroon
South Africa
Sierra Leone
Mozambique
Democratic Republic of Congo
The S.E. Parc Agro initiative at Bukanga-Lonzo, a first-of-its-kind in the DRC and one of the team's biggest and most recent projects, is essentially a concept of agricultural land development with the implementation of the necessary infrastructure to support a self-sustained economic unit. With the foundations firmly set in place, 2015 is set to be a riveting year as this exciting development takes shape.

TRIOMF has taken the lead when it comes to precision farming mainly through the efforts of its highly qualified team who is passionate and purposeful in assisting the food producer in obtaining optimum yields for maximum profits. Many farmers are familiar with chemical grid analysis, but by joining forces with the TRIOMF Agri Xcellence team, the producer has access to a complete, integrated picture. Integrated soil classification and soil chemical analyses together with yield information explain abnormalities found in cultivated fields.

This information is used to identify and manage these abnormalities which enables the farmer to be more effective with his input costs, therefore maximising profitability. A specialist from the TRIOMF Agri Xcellence team is readily available to be on site providing expert advice and recommendations based on in-depth analysis. This, paired with valuable aftercare service, results in the improved management of input costs, more effective utilisation of resources and better farming practices.

With the completion of the "Accurate-Agri" cycle, the farmer is able to make informed management decisions according to his farm's strengths and limitations. Through these expert recommendations the producer can be confident in receiving the best return on his investment.

BENEFITS OF ACCURATE-AGRI:

Accurate-Agri enables farmland to be analysed in order to achieve optimum yield per hectare and to determine the potential for the season
With this information, the correct lime and plant nutrition can be administrated at the right time and place
Without Accurate-Agri, under or over fertilization can affect profitability, Many farmers are likely to cultivate fields and even entire farmlands in the same way. Very often variation occurs on these areas. This means that cultivation will also vary
With Accurate-Agri, more than just mere soil mapping is considered when developing and planting grids and maps which can vary according to grain rotation
If appropriate implements and tillage for a specific farmland are used, fuel can be saved and yields increased
Risks and uncertainties relating to farming can be reduced
Accurate-Agri offers complete grain reccomendations and solutions, which is directly linked to soil potential for the season
Accurate-Agri takes the first step when new or existing areas of farmland are being developed by doing a full risk and profitability evaluation to determine the characteristics and values of the soil
Accurate-Agri provides practical charts of zones set out on the farmland which identify the necessary management required
The principles of Accurate-Agri form the basis for successful crop production. Facts are collected and studied to eliminate uncertainty in farming

TRIOMF DRC
5-line

This recent development has required all the considerable skills of logistics, forward and future planning and specialised abilities which are all successfully employed in this new venture in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

2-line

This recent development has required all the considerable skills of logistics, forward and future planning and specialised abilities which are all successfully employed in this new venture in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Deemed as an area of the economy loaded with plenty of potential, the production of cassava, yams, plantains, rice and maize has stagnated since independence in 1960. To further complicate matters, the country is handicapped by a poor internal transportation system. But despite all the limiting factors, TRIOMF has acknowledged the several possibilities in the region and aims to eradicate the high costs involved with importing fertilizer by manufacturing locally, creating employment and ultimately building the industry as a whole.

The agricultural sector supports two thirds of the population and is divided into subsistence and commercial farming. It is especially the former that has sparked TRIOMF's involvement taking the dire domestic food production statistics into account.

A new harbour facility in the port of Boma on the Congo River will soon be home to a state-of-the-art fertilizer production plant. From here it will be possible to supply the DRC inland and further afield with TRIOMF Fertilizer products, and also provides a means of shipping raw materials globally which are needed for the expansion of the group of companies already under the umbrella of AFRICOM COMMODITIES. The shipping route which has now been opened up will facilitate, at a lower cost, the moving of large shipments of raw materials, not only to the flagship operation in South Africa but also a means to deliver large quantities to other ports.

Following the establishment of the necessary relationships with banking institutions, transport companies, and the relevant Farmers' Unions just to name a few, as well as setting up much needed infrastructure and employing a skilled workforce, the project got off to a blistering pace with the deadline of being operational towards the end of 2015, firmly in their sights.

This innovative project will enlarge the coverage of AFRICOM COMMODITIES in West Africa which will meet the needs of farmers globally and enhance the production of food supply. TRIOMF Fertilizer is already a key player in the SADC region and has a global vision which has moved ever closer with access to a new warehouse facility more conveniently located to deliver to new markets. Not only is the cheaper import of raw materials needed for the supply of fertilizer, but also to grow markets abroad and become, what has been the mission, a world player with a principled approach of integrity and innovation.

These buckets are currently distributed in the DRC through wholesalers, retailers and Government initiatives.

In addition to the constant hub of building activity at the site, a huge amount of attention has been paid to marketing and as a result, the locals have warmed to the idea and have embraced the prospect of having a sound fertilizer industry set in place in a country that yearns to eradicate the negative consequences of its war-ravaged past. With the team's progress having already reached extraordinary levels with the initiative only a few months old, it is bound to be an exhilarating few years ahead as the RDC team witness their visions develop into a blooming reality.

The multi-million Dollar project of the Boma DRC initiative is a contract landed by a company within the group: Desticlox (Pty) Ltd.

With their roots firmly embedded in all aspects of drone aviation - most notably as the sole providers of highly specialised training in South Africa, together Dr. Gerhard Coetzee and Louis Nel have branched out and taken the possibilities surrounding UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) to new exciting levels. With technology rapidly changing on a day-to-day basis, the duo have recognised the capabilities of the "eye in the sky" and have since ventured into the agricultural sector which has enabled the farmer to identify and rectify crop health through infrared maps, monitor livestock through the RFID tag system as well as how to act upon information as gathered by GIS (Geographical Information Systems). But obviously this unmanned aircraft has several benefits for a number of industries in addition to agriculture including mining, security and rhino conservation in an ever-changing environment.

AGRICULTURE

In what can be regarded as yet another addition to Precision Farming's arsenal, Haevic has joined forces with agricultural giants TRIOMF in taking accuracy to new realms of discovery. Armed with an infra-red camera, a built-in GPS and accompanying software, the flying robot as it is often referred to, adds a whole new dimension not only to the farmer's ability to identify, monitor and rectify crop health but also the following:

Creating infrared maps
Stitching photos on Google Earth
Inspecting fields in hard to reach places
Counting livestock with the unique RFID tag system within minutes
Detecting pathogens on infected crops long before the symptoms are noticeable by installing a nano-sensor on the UAV
Detecting criminals with thermal cameras during the night
By guiding the farmer on which UAV application will be best, taking circumstances and budget into account, the advantages are endless such as:

Saving money
Making use of clean energy – no fuel
Managing criminal activities effectively
Monitoring livestock efficiently and quickly
Last but not, making Precision Farming easier to execute
Haevic offers a variety of courses during which farmers are introduced to Aerial Agricultural Support and Services which includes GIS software training as well as waypoint flying.

MINING

The primary use of these aircrafts within the mining industry is for exploration which includes the mapping of distant terrain and to further examine potential mineral deposits. Haevic (derived from the German word "hawk") has upped the usefulness of unmanned devices and systems by providing the following services within mining:

Photo and video capturing
Infra-red surveillance and mapping
Distance sensing
Flying over specific areas

WILDLIFE

With the rhino crisis spiralling out of control in South Africa – it is projected that if the killing continues at the current rate, we could see rhino deaths overtaking births by 2016 – Haevic has jumped on board in promoting rhino conservation.

A farmer is now able to fly his drone over his farm during which a signal is sent by means of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Tag and picked up by the drone, identifying the animal. Haevic has since completed the first stage of tests and are currently busy finalising the accompanying software package. By improving the security of these precious animals, Haevic is certainly doing their bit in the fight against poaching.

By offering superior specialised training in all aspects of drone applications, Haevic is intent on creating job opportunities. Agriculture aside, qualified UAV operators will be able to provide the following:

Anti-poaching field assistance and wildlife research
Policing assistance
Neighbourhood anti-crime watch
Crowd control and traffic watch
Aerial surveys for drawing up maps
Other Surveillance possibilities include border patrols, human settlement mapping, medical emergencies, crowd and VIP surveillance and military surveillance.

Established in 1989 in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, Enviro Africom has grown rapidly during the past 20 years.

2-line

Established in 1989 in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, Enviro Africom has grown rapidly during the past 20 years. Enviro Africom boasts a portfolio of crop protection compounds exceeding one hundred registrations with several more in various stages of development. The company specialises in the manufacturing and distribution of a comprehensive range comprising specialised agricultural crop protection chemicals.

As one of the major generic agrochemical companies in South Africa, Enviro Africom is always striving to be recognised and respected as the no.1 choice supplier of agricultural remedies. Enviro aims to be the market leaders by setting new standards of efficiency through ongoing innovation and absolute dedication.

The product range consists of:

Fungicides
Plant growth regulators
Adjuvants
Herbicides
Fertilizer
Insecticides
Environmental Management
Rodenticides
The Enviro team consists of employees who work in sales, finances and administration and are strategically placed through-out the country with the Northern and Southern regions straddled by the Orange River. There is also no shortage of experience within the upper tiers of the company. During August 2014, AFRICOM COMMODITIES successfully acquired Enviro Africom in what can be deemed as the perfect partnership between them and TRIOMF Fertilizer who already has a commanding presence among farmers not only in South Africa, but also Africa. As a generic company in a highly competitive market, Enviro has the advantage of offering a more cost-effective solution as opposed to the larger multi-national companies. It is also able to be more flexible, avoiding lengthy decision-making processes. Aiming to present a complete solution to farmers, the Enviro team follows a crop programme in which a variety of pests are identified and treated, hence offering a comprehensive package, often referred to as "bundled", which is sold on a price-per-hectare basis and not product by product. As with any company adopting an integrated approach towards crop protection, good decision is non-negotiable when considering the following:

The crop: Potential and present threats (pests and diseases)
Beneficial organisms: Growing environment
Farm workers: Market requirements

Integrated Crop Management (ICM) is not restricted to crop protection chemicals but also biological products which is estimated to make up about 10% of the market. Due to the live nature of these organisms, it isn't always a popular option considering the challenges surrounding the upkeep within a warehouse but a microbiologist is on hand should the need arise for these products to be formulated which helps to increase the quality of soil.

The term "stewardship" is integral due to the dangerous nature of the products being dealt with and it is for this reason that all parties involved ranging from logistics, warehousing and the agents are properly trained and that the registration processes are adhered to. Enviro is a member of the umbrella association AVCASA (Association of Veterinary and Crop Associations of South Africa) who represents its two affiliate associations including CropLife SA who are always on hand to step in if necessary should an urgent situation arise.

Enviro endeavours to reduce the hazardous risk to users and minimise contamination of the environment during the development of products and by doing so, must prove that there are no unnecessary risks posed to human health, plants, animals, wildlife and the environment.

Enviro Africom enjoys a nationwide presence throughout South Africa and within the AFRICOM COMMODITIES Group of Companies, delving into Africa, Enviro Africom is looking forward to furthering the registration processes as the agricultural industry continues to boom.

With the highly recognized Enviro trademark, farmers and other clients alike ask for the Enviro products by name in a highly competitive market.

This first-of-its-kind to Africa, DRC Government initiative commenced in 2013 and launched early 2014 when a special agreement was reached with AFRICOM COMMODITIES RDC to start the development of agricultural sectors throughout the country. "Societe d'exploitation du Parc Agro de Industriel" is essentially a concept of agricultural land development with the implementation of the necessary infrastructure to support a self-sustained economic unit. This large scale implementation includes not only the best in plantations and arable land development, but also supports structures such as roads, water supply, power lines, housing, hospitals, churches, schools and even landing strips for aircrafts. The first sector development under the new "S.E. Parc Agro de Industriel" initiative has commenced in the district of Bukanga-Lonzo, some 260 km South-East of Kinshasa.

This 80 000ha farm and village development offers a new challenge, the first in Africa, but one which the group of companies under the umbrella of AFRICOM COMMODITIES is well able to establish using this prime land to maximum advantage for all concerned. Other sectors will follow the pilot project of Bukanga-Lonzo.

Allocated land will be developed not only for effective food farming, but also livestock farming and several villages together with the electrical supply in order to maintain this new development from the raw earth comprising schools, clinics, churches and all that is needed for modern day living.

Soil scientists, agronomists and agriculturists analyse the land and all scientific data is collated in order to implement the planting of the most suitable crops based on this cutting edge data. Research and the implementation of the results acquired from this careful survey ensure that the land will be sustained for future generations, and it will also produce the highest possible crop yield at lower costs.

Electrical contractors have established an intricate and effective system to allow for irrigation on the uneven terrain and to supply the villages with electricity. This enables the irrigation system to pump water to the fields where it will be required for superb crop yields and also for household use.

An interactive and dynamic website feeds the public and interested parties with daily news and events at the S.E. Parc Agro farm according to a carefully formulated production timeline.

MARCHÈ INTERNATIONAL
5-line

Fresh Produce Markets are often referred to as the stock exchange of the fresh produce industry and this particular facility, situated on the outskirts of Kinshasa DRC which will cover a total area of 36 275 m², will be no different.

2-line

Following in the footsteps of South Africa's major markets including the Joburg Market which is Africa's largest, the Marché International de Kinshasa will deal in fruit and vegetables, eggs, fish and meat which will mostly be available to local and international buyers alike. Typically, the market will operate on a commission/agent basis. The farmers will deliver their produce to the market agents who go on to sell it to buyers, carefully adhering to a structure designed to benefit all parties involved.

Deemed as a country with the potential to feed the whole of Africa, the DRC has a vast unrealised agricultural capacity. Straddling the equator and occupying two tropical zones, its climate favours the cultivation of a wide range of tropical crops with more than half the land arable and suitable for farming. Subsistence farming dominates the sector with crops mostly comprising maize, cassava, millet and rice while most of the commercial crops such as coffee, cocoa, tea, palm oil and sugar cane are grown in plantations. Poor farmer productivity, a lack of infrastructure and a difficult business environment have meant that the cost of producing goods and taking them to markets have been high. In some cases, imports are often more readily available or cheaper than local products. Coupled with 80 million hectares of arable land - 90% of it not cultivated - the DRC offers huge potential for feeding itself and upping export figures.

Infrastructure aside, the Marché International de Kinshasa has the power to aid the almost six million small farmers by helping them gain access to existing and new markets. The role of the fresh produce market is to provide the necessary and obvious facilities to compensate for and cover the growing gap in the market. The provision of a fresh produce market allows for equal trade opportunities to large scale, commercialised producers and smallholder farmers producing small quantities of produce. Previously, these farmers would have experienced barriers into entering the market world, impossible to conquer due to the fact that large corporate buyers and marketing agents are not interested in procuring small, fluctuating quantities or varying quality fresh produce.

The Marché International de Kinshasa will serve as the ideal platform for these farmers who will have higher levels of clarity of who will buy their produce, even though the commercial farmers remain set to dominate supply.

An extension of this daily active bidding market will be the online web based E-commerce leg of the Fresh Produce Market, selling mainly products derived from the S.E. Parc Agro farms to global buyers. Besides the entrance, parking bays, allocated delivery area, drop-off zones and an administration block, the rest of the 36 275 m² premises will be taken up by the market. Together the two interlinked projects will strive to conquer what is regarded as tricky business territory and more importantly, reverse the current negative trend of a
